Acorns Crush Eagles to Double Win Total From Last Year

Just three games into a new season, the Oakville football team can already check off some early goals in 2022.

Led by an all-around offense and a defense that stepped up when it needed to, the Acorns defeated Evergreen Lutheran in their home opener Friday afternoon, 94-32.

Ashton Boyd finished with 289 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the ground on 15 carries, and Eddie Klatush added 105 rushing yards with three touchdowns and a 7 for 12 passing line with four touchdowns and 197 yards through the air.

Daniel Rodas caught four passes for three touchdowns and Haezen Cayenne added three catches for 82 yards and a score.

Despite the gaudy offensive numbers, Oakville coach Skyler Davis points the early season success to the trenches.

“We had a fantastic team effort in our home opener,” he said. “Our defense flew around and made some key stops when Evergreen Lutheran was starting to get some momentum. The offense got everybody involved early and often. But the guys who you don’t see on the stat sheets, our linemen, are the core of our team. What they’ve been able to do this year is the reason why we have done what we’ve done thus far. Big guys deserve all the love.”

The Acorns (2-1) take on Naselle next Friday on the road.
