Acorns Come Back to Beat Lions

The Oakville football team’s explosive offense came through late at home Thursday, as the Acorns hit enough big plays to take down Sound Christian 60-42.

“The whole night was a back-and-forth battle,” Oakville coach Skyler Davis said. “We would score on big plays like we do, then SCA would punch us right back with some long, meticulous drives.”

But after trailing at the half and going into the fourth quarter down by four, Oakville finally got the string of big plays and stops it needed, winning the fourth quarter 22-0 to win the night.

After playing just a half against Winlock last week, Eddie Klatush returned to full-go for the Acorns and went off, going 11 for 16 through the air for 308 yards and five touchdowns, and adding another 246 yards and two scores on the ground.

Ashton Boyd caught three of those touchdowns, going 193 yards on four receptions, and ran in the remaining two Oakville touchdowns as part of a 187-yard effort on the ground. Together, he and Klatush averaged 27 yards per carry.

Daniel Rodas added four catches of his own, for 75 yards and two touchdowns.

On defense, Shayden Baker led the Acorns with 23 tackles, Gio Rodas had 10, and both Boyd and Cayenne had eight.

Oakville (3-3) will host Muckleshoot Tribal next Friday.
