Kaylin Todd scored 17 points with eight assists and Karlee Von Moos turned in another double-double as the Adna Pirates blew out the Stevenson Bulldogs, 68-14, at home in a Central 2B League girls basketball game on Friday.
Von Moos’ double-double involved 13 points and 14 boards. The sophomore is averaging a double-double this season, according to Pirates coach Chris Bannish, as the Pirates are looking to wrestle control of the C2BL away from stalwart Wahkiakum.
Summer White was also in double figures for the Pirates with 14 points.
Adna scored 29 first-quarter points and allowed just two, leaving no doubt in a contest Bannish wondered the Pirates would have assumed the result and sleep-walked through.
“I don’t know that we’ve ever done that before,” Bannish said of the explosive first quarter. “You set goals for yourself as a team. IN years past with some of my teams, that game would be a 15-point game still. We didn’t play down to our opponent.”
Adna (5-0) visits Willapa Valley on Monday at 7 p.m., then again takes to the road to play Wahkiakum in an all-important contest on Thursday, also at 7 p.m.
Senior post Stacie Spahr put up a monster game, scoring a game-high 23 points and 15 rebounds to lead Toledo to a 54-16 blowout victory over Morton-White Pass at home on Friday.
Marina Smith added nine points, eight steals and five assists, while Gracie Madill has six points and four steals and Greenlee Clark pitched in five assists, five rebounds and four steals.
For MWP, Natalia Armstrong led the Timberwolves with seven points, while Emarey Hampton had five, McKenzee Mays two and Keegan Ingalsbe and Maddie Clevenger each scored one.
The Indians the T-Wolves into 25 turnovers.
“MWP is really young,” Toledo coach Brian Layton said. “The youngest team in the league. They’re going to be good in a couple years. They played hard and scrappy. We took advantage of our size advantage.”
Toledo wins its second straight, improves to 2-2 and travels to Mossyrock on Saturday.
MWP falls to 2-4 overall and hosts Onalaska on Saturday.
Callie Lawrence poured in a game-high 21 points and hauled in eight rebounds as Onalaska used a 21-2 run to start the game for a 61-44 victory over Napavine on the road Friday.
“Onalaska came ready and jumped on us,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said.
Napavine finally got its footing in the second and third quarters, even outscoring the Loggers 18-13 in the third, but the Loggers buckled down in the fourth and held off the comeback attempt.
“The second, third and fourth quarters, we started competing at a higher level,” Schutz said. “If you don’t play four quarters, you get beat.”
Morgan Hamilton added 12 points and three rebounds for Onalaska, while Alex Cleveland-Barrera pulled down a game-high 11 boards to go with seven points and three assists.
Napavine was led by Avery Schutz team-high 10 points and six rebounds. Dani Tupuola added seven and Vannie Fagerness chipped in six.
Onalaska (2-2) travels to Morton-White Pass on Saturday. Napavine (1-2) travels to Rainier on Monday.
