2B District 4 Wrestling Tourney Caps Off Season

Area Class 2B Wrestlers finished out their season with a day-long 2B District 4 Tournament in Forks that featured wrestlers from 18 different schools on Wednesday.

As a team, Adna boys finished fourth with 89 points. Rainier was seventh (75), Napavine eighth (44), Mossyrock 11th (24) and Onalaska 12th (21). Forks won the event with 294.5 points.

The Pirate boys nine wrestlers place top-five, led by a group of four eighth graders. Kooper Moon was the Pirates’ top finisher, placing second at 120. Kolten Moon was third at 113, Daniel Meyer was third at 138 and Cohen Hartley was fourth at 113.

Also placing for the Pirates were freshman Jacob Price at 152 (fifth), senior Christian Gavlin at 152 (third), junior Tristan Ridley at 160 (third), freshman Levi Slape at 182 (fifth) and sophomore Sean Hellem at 195 (fifth).

“Super happy,” Adna coach Craig Ferrier said. “We missed two weeks in the middle of the season and came back less than two weeks before districts. Some kids only had two matches all year. Happy with how they competed.”

For Mossyrock, Marshall Brockway won the 220-pound title with back-to-back pins in the semifinal and title-match rounds.

For Napavine, Jesse Geunther placed fourth in the 120-pound division, Gabe Dickinson was second at 138 and Aiden Miller fourth at 160.



The Tigers also had a group of junior high kids grapple as well. On the boys side, Koen Christian-Briggs was fourth at 95-100; Case Van Kooten was second at 130-145; Carter Catlin was second at 150-165. On the girls side, Anna Guenther won the 130-pound division and Annabelle Cserni was second at 130.

“Even though we did not come home with a high school champion, every wrestler came home with a medal,” Napavine coach Jay Terry said.

For Onalaska, Kayden Mozingo finished second at 132 and Tommy Hornsby was fifth at 285.

For Rainier, Zach Coleman won the 113-pound division; Adrian Hambly was third at 152; Jacob Warner was third at 170; Kayleb Jackson placed fourth at 220 and Matthew Kenney was fifth at 220.

For the girls, Adna was third with 28 points and Rainier was fourth with 22.5. Pirate senior Keaton Dowell went 3-0 on the day to capture the 170-pound championship. She received a first-round bye and won the semifinal and title matches each by pin.

“Pleased Keaton ended her career standing on top of the podium,” Ferrier said.

For Rainier, Amanda MOrris was third at 170 and Katherine Kinahan placed third at 191.
