2B Boys Golf: Pirates Triumph in Season Opener

Posted

Adna’s Braeden Salme won match medalist honors, shooting a 52, to help the Pirates to a season-opening victory at Riverside Golf Course on Thursday.

The Pirates, who shot 274 as a team, were the only squad fielding a full team. Andrew Grim shot a 54, Aaron Aselton a 53, Chris Mcguire a 55 and Chase Collins a 60. Seth Meister rounded out the Pirates with a 63. It was the first-ever golf match for four of Adna’s six golfers.

“Those aren’t bad scores considering the soft conditions,” Adna coach Luke Salme said. “Each of my guys has a hole or two they’d like to redo, but that’s how golf goes. “They had a blast playing and competing on a nice day on a great golf course.”

Winlock’s Joe Welch shot a 59 as the Cardinals’ lone golfer, and Ilwaco’s Noah Cherry shot a 70 as the Fishermen’s only golfer.

Adna and Winlock are back in action on Monday at Riverside Golf Course, along with Toutle Lake and Wahkiakum.
