W.F. West is the local 2A team coming off the most successful year, from a playoff standpoint: a state tourney appearance in which it fell one win short of a trophy.
The Bearcats finished with an 18-8 overall record but lost a talented senior class, which included three starters, from that team.
Luckily, the Bearcats bring back two big pieces and a number of solid role players from a year ago.
Leading the charge will be 6-foot-2 junior Drea Brumfield, a Pepperdine commit who is one of the state’s top Class of 2022 talents. The two-time All-Area selection averaged 12.3 points, seven rebounds, 2.7 blocks and 2.4 assists per game in 2020.
Also back is returning starter Madi Mencke, a senior shutdown defender who plays tenacious defense and can also get it done on the offensive end.
A couple solid pieces looking to slide into starting roles are juniors Kyla McCallum and Lexi Roberts, who both saw big-time varsity minutes last season.
Centralia
The Tigers have some big shoes to fill with graduated senior Carissa Kaut gone, who is now playing for Centralia College.
Looking to take over that leadership role are a pair of returning starters: juniors Jadyn Hawley and Maddie Corwin. Also back in the fold are Rhegan Jenkins and Satine Sas, who both saw varsity playing time a year ago.
Rochester
The Warriors also have some big gaps to fill with a trio of graduated players who are now gone and playing in college: Paige Winters, Kortney Kerbaugh and Lexie Sederburg.
The Warriors went 11-10 overall and 4-6 in league play while finishing one game short of a district playoff berth.
Rochester has two returning starters in Madison Bates and Megan Elkins, and a few newcomers who will likely start this year in junior Sofie Sand, sophomore Lauren Rotter and senior Madison Bates.

Tenino
The Beavers went 9-12 overall last season, falling in the opening round of districts.
The good news is they return six players who all started at one point or another last season, which includes Kaya Feltus, Alivia Hunter, Megan Letts, Ashley Schow, Abby Severse and Grace Vestal. Sophomore post Rilee Jones will also be in the fold, according to second-year coach Scott Ashmore said.
