2A XC: Rochester’s Morgan, Jennings Top Finishers at League Meet

Rochester’s Levi Jennings placed third in the boys race (17:38) and Lily Morgan took fourth in the girls race (22:24.3), as the two Warriors led all area runners at the 2A Evergreen Conference Cross Country Championships in Shelton Saturday.

Also qualifying for the District IV meet were W.F. West’s Elaina Koenig, who placed ninth in the girls race, and Henry Jordan, who finished 10th with a personal record.

“(Elaina) has always been a tough competitor and rose to the occasion as she was fighting for ninth place in the last 400 meters of an uphill,” W.F. West XC coach Amber Cruzan said. “(Henry) is really peaking at the right moment.”

Tumwater won the six-team boys meet (32), while Rochester (93) was fourth and W.F. West (101) fifth. Shelton won the girls meet (23), while neither Centralia, W.F. West or Rochester scored team points.



The top three teams advance to the district tourney, plus 15 more runners who are not on a qualifying team. Also, the top-10 finishers are automatically selected to the 2A EvCo All-League Team.

Also qualifying for districts on the boys side are Centralia’s Devin Harrison (11th) and Aiden Cox (47th). W.F. West’s Jaysen Miles, Jacob Moeckel, Aram Matagi, Bryan Bach, Andrew Scheer and Josh Everbly. Rochester’s Hunter Morgan, Christian Larson, Jaegen Reese, Noah Meckle, Sean Ivey and Noah Pratt.

Other girls qualifying for districts include Centralia’s Chihiro Bringman, Summer Holmes and Payton Hile. W.F. West’s Cadence Edminster, Jaelynn Viall and Amy Jones.

The District IV Tournament is Thursday, March 18, at Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, Washington.
