W.F. West boys exploded for 126 team points and the girls tallied 98 points as the two teams easily outpaced visiting Rochester in a dual meet Wednesday in Chehalis.
Junior standout Seth Hoff propelled the boys with four victories. He threw the discus for the first time and won by nearly nine feet with a toss of 108-04. He also won the high jump by six inches (5-10), ran the second leg in the winning 4x100 relay and captured the long jump by over three feet with a personal record of 20-01.
Other Bearcat winners on the boys side included freshman Declan McDonald won the 200 (25.06). Andrew Scheer won the 800 (2:13.62). Sophomore Jaysen Miles captured the 3200 (11:36.17).
Senior Connor Russell continued his success in the 110 hurdles, winning in 15.49. Freshman Clayton Jewell won the 300s in 48.27.
The Bearcats 4x100 relay of Charles Mallonee, Hoff, Darren Gray and Ryan Hirte won in a time of 46.20. The 4x400 relay of Russell, Bryan Bach, Scheer and Mallonne also won (3:51.95).
Senior Bryson Boyd won the shot put by nearly three feet with a toss of 41-03.
Gray won the javelin with a throw of 151-07, beating the runner up by 29 feet. Matthew Senderak and Dakota Collins tied for first in the pole vault (10-06).
For Rochester, junior Talon Betts won the 100 in 11.32 and the 400 with a three-second PR of 52.92.
“(Talon) is just an excellent runner,” Rochester coach Troy Holman said. “I can put him just about any place.”
Sophomore Hunter Morgan won by 36 seconds in the 1600 (5:04.40) and Nicholas Forsyth won the triple jump (34-10.5)
On the girls side for the Bearcats, sophomore speedster Hodaya Starr was the star, winning four events on the day. She captured the 100-meter dash (13.64) the 200 (29 flat), ran the first leg in the winning 4x100 relay and ran the second leg in the winning 4x200 relay.
The Bearcats also won the 4x400 relay with Lydia Koenig, Elaina Koenig, Hillary White and Elizbeth Patana (4:42.85).
Joining Starr in the 4x100 were Amelia Etue, Kelly Robertson and Brenna Witchey. And joining her in the 4x200 were Audrey Toynbeem Etue and Robertson.
Junior Jocelyn Robertson won the 100 hurdles in 20.03 and Freshman Lydia Koenig won the 400 in 1:09.60.
Freshman Elaina Koenig won the 1600 in 2:28.75 and freshman Jaelynn Viall won the 3200 (15:29.11).
Senior Brianna Power won the discus by 24 feet with a toss of 100-06, and junior Kyla McCallum uncorked a PR of 113-04 in the javelin to easily win by 21 feet.
Senior Maliyah Lockwood won the high jump with a leap of 4-08, and Sadie Dahlin won the pole vault (7-06).
Sophomore Brenna Mitchey won the long jump with a leap of 14-08 and the triple jump with a PR of 31-09.5.
For Rochester, Hannah Rhodeheaver won the shot by nearly seven feet with a toss of 32-01.
“Another great day for her,” Holman said.
Freshman Naomi Gingrich captured the 300 hurdles in a PR of 1:02.60 for the Warriors final win.
Both W.F. West and Rochester travel to Shelton on Saturday for an unsanctioned invite that is basically a league championship to give athletes one final shot at qualifying for districts.
