2A Golf: Bearcats Trounce Shelton in Their Best Match of the Season

W.F. West had three golfers shoot 40 or below as the Bearcats shot 15 strokes better than their previous best this season in a 200-265 victory over Shelton at Newaukum Valley Golf Course Monday.

“It was our best round of the season and we were really excited. It was great weather, too,” W.F. West coach Matt Klovdahl said. “We’re peaking at the right time.”

Ben Halverstadt earned match medalist honors while shooting a 36 on the day. Bearcat teammate Tukker Rosbach shot a 39, Dirk Plakinger finished with a 42 and Mika Ethel shot a 43.

Shelton was led by Holmes’ Waltermeyer’s 38.

W.F. West faces off against rival Centralia at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, at Riverside Golf Course.



Tigers Fall to Black Hills

Centralia got impressive rounds from the Wasson brothers but the Tigers weren’t able to overcome the Wolves in a 254-261 road loss on Monday.

Von Wasson was match medalist with a 34, while older brother, Cole Wasson, shot a 37 on the day. Brady Sprague shot a 57, Mateo Guerrero had a 61 and Tucker Weaver finished with a 72.

Black Hills was led by Luke Funner’s 40.

Centralia hosts rival W.F. West on Thursday at Riverside.
