Tied at three matches each, Centralia’s season opener at home Tuesday went to a 10-point tiebreaker, with Shelton edging the Tigers by two points. Centralia freshmen Sophie Wiley and Ruth Gonzalez each won their first high school tennis match.
“It was a great first match for our team,” Centralia coach Deb Keahey said. “Our team was pretty evenly matched.”
Singles
“Olivia Wiley showed a lot of grit and stamina and won her No. 2 singles match in a hard fought three-set battle,” Keahey said.
Doubles
“Maddie Corwin and Liza Hopkins played really smart tennis to top their opponents,” Keahey said. “Olivia Norris and Nora Sass had a good showing and split sets. It was also their first high school league match and had a good showing.”
