Boosted by a one-two punch, Aberdeen was able to easily outmaneuver Rochester, 40-8, in the Warriors’ season-opening match on Wednesday at Riverside Golf Course.

Amerika Jones was Rochester’s top scorer with four points and Bailey McLellen added two to the team total. Aberdeen was led by match medalist Britt Rajcich, who scored 25 points, and Saylor Heikkila, who scored 10.

It was not only Rochester’s first meet of the season but the first-ever competitive match for most of the team as many of the Warriors first picked up a golf club last week.

“The fact that we were even scoring points was encouraging,” Rochester coach Brian Keese said.

Rochester heads into spring break and then gets back into action on April 14 when it travels to Tumwater.
