2A Boys Tennis: Plenty of Bearcats, Tigers Still Alive at Sub-Districts

Two W.F. West doubles teams, Cade Cameron and Christian Iverson, as well as Jacob Blomdahl and Aaron Boggess, advanced to the 2A Evergreen Conference sub-district semifinals at Black Hills’ High School on Monday

Cameron and Iverson earned a first-round bye, then defeated Black Hills’ Lauri Calvert and Ryan Cokl, 6-2, 6-1, in the second round. Iverson and Cameron will face Shelton’s Jayden Lovingfoss and Wade Wagner in the semifinals at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Blomdahl and Boggess defeated Black Hills’ Pilen and Brown, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round, then beat Aberdeen’s Andrew Troeh and Kyle Miller in round two. Blomdahl and Boggess face Tumwater’s Sawyer Lougheed and Andrew Johnson in the semifinal Tuesday.

Playing doubles’ consolation bracket are Centralia’s Landon Kaut and Brandon Yeung, who defeated Tumwater’s Mitch Knowlton and Ben Gress, 6-0, 6-0, in the first round. Kaut and Yeung then fell to Tumwater’s Lougheed and Johnson, 6-3, 6-4, in round two. Kaut and Yeung face Aberdeen’s Troeh and Miller in a loser-out match on Tuesday.

Eliminated in the first round were Centralia doubles partners David Parsons and Justin Kuykendall, who lost to Black Hills’ Calvert and Cokl, 6-0, 6-1. W.F. West’s Nate Dahlin and Hans Meyer were eliminated after falling to Tumwater’s Jackson Bishop and Peirce Yates in the opening round.



The singles tournament is being held at Tumwater High School. W.F. West’s Justin Chung has advanced to the semifinals after a first-round bye and a second-round win over Aberdeen’s Ashdon Swope, 6-1, 6-1). Chung will face Shelton’s Brendan Wagner on Tuesday.

Bearcat’s Joseph Chung had a first-round bye and the results from his second-round match were not available. W.F. West’s Gabe Cuestas defeated Tumwater’s Gavin Feldtman, 6-1, 6-0, in round one. Chung’s result from his second-round match against Colton Faulkner was not available as of Monday night.

Centralia’s Isaac Parkin defeated Tumwater’s Lukas Stuart 6-1, 6-2, in round one. Parkin lost to Shelton’s Brendan Wagner in round two, 6-0, 6-0, and is now in the consolation bracket.

Eliminated in the first round of singles was Centralia’s Conner O’dell, who lost to Faulker of Aberdeen, 6-0, 6-0.

The tournament resumes at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, with doubles at Black Hills High School and singles at Tumwater High School.
