Posted

Under the direction of first-year Centralia boys tennis coach Scott Snyder, the Tigers opened up their season with a 4-2 victory over Black Hills Wednesday afternoon.

The Tigers (1-0) were able to pick up victories on the court in each of the top two singles and doubles positions, with contributions from freshmen and seniors.

In the top two singles positions, senior Landon Kaut (6-2, 7-5) and Isaac Parkin (6-1, 6-1) won decisively in two sets each, with Kaut fighting in his second set for the opening victory. In doubles play, the Tigers top pair of freshman Jacoby Corwin and Conner O’Dell won 6-1, 6-2, and the second doubles pair of Brandon Yeung and David Parson won 6-2, 6-0.

Head coach Snyder made sure to make note of Corwin, who appeared in his first high school match and won in that appearance. Snyder was in the same boat, guiding the Tigers to their first team win as head coach of Centralia.

The Tigers will head to Aberdeen this Friday for another road contest after their victory Wednesday.
