1B/2B Girls Hoops: Torrey Lead Vikings Over Kodiaks

Payton Torrey scored 20 points and Mossyrock rolled past Columbia Adventist, 45-21, in 1B Coastal League girls basketball action Monday night in Mossyrock.

Torrey hit five three-pointers and added eight steals and six rebounds. Hailey Brooks scored eight points, Caelyn Marshall and Abbie Lovan each scored six, and Jade Padrick chipped in nine rebounds for Mossyrock.

The Vikings led 15-9 after a quarter, but extended that lead to 27-14 by halftime.

“Columbia Adventist was super aggressive from the start, and we had to slow down and get in our groove,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “And we played really well after that first quarter.”

Lovan and Teaguen Weise both provided a defensive spark off the bench, Moorcroft added. 

Mossyrock 4-1 hosts Willapa Valley on Wednesday.

Pirates Start Hot, Crush Willapa Valley, 68-31

Adna scored 33 points in the first quarter Monday night to beat Willapa Valley, 68-31, in non-league girls basketball action.

Kaylin Todd scored 16 to lead Adna, with Faith Wellander chipping in 15. 

Karlee Von Moos scored 12 with 14 rebounds, notching her fifth double-double in six games, and Summer White went 5 of 9 from the field for 12 points.



“We jumped on them, and we shared the ball well,” Adna coach Chris Bannish said.

Lauryn McGough led Willapa Valley with 10 points.

Adna (6-0, 4-0 Central 2B League) plays at Wahkiakum on Thursday.

Tigers Cruise to 59-34 Road Victory

Natalya Marcial drained four 3-pointers and led Napavine with 14 points as the Tigers handed Rainier a 59-34 defeat on the road Monday in 2CBL play.

Avery Schutz added 11 points for the Tigers, Dani Tupuola finished with 10 and Keira O’Neil had eight.

“We had balanced scoring tonight and I thought Natalya and Dani led us offensively,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said.

Rainier was led by Bryn Beckman’s 12 points, while Selena Niemi had nine.

Napavine (2-2) hosts Morton-White Pass on Tuesday. Rainier (3-3) travels to Kalama on Tuesday.
