Mossyrock junior outside hitter Hailey Brooks scorched a game-high 11 aces and Mossyrock cruised past visiting Pe Ell in straight sets (25-6, 25-9, 25-4) Tuesday night in 1B Columbia Valley League play.

Paige Houghtelling led the Vikings’ offensive attack with a team-high eight kills, while Payton Torrey added four and Brooks tallied three.

“Strong serves from Hailey,” Mossyrock coach Alex Nelson said. “Consistent play was a positive.”

Caelyn Marshall contributed a team-high 13 assists, Erin Cournyer had four assists, Torrey had a team-high seven digs and Brooks chipped in five digs.

Pe Ell coach Hollie Briggs said though her team didn’t come away with a win, they played the Vikings better than they did last season.

“They’re just a good team and they hit hard,” Briggs said. “Even when we blocked their shots, the ball shanked out of bounds. The girls didn’t give up and they held their heads up.”

Mossyrock (4-1 overall) travels to Willapa Valley Tuesday. Pe Ell (3-2) hosts Naselle Thursday.
