One day after improving by 23 strokes from its first-ever match, Tenino did even better in its third-ever match in Thursday’s 178-222 loss to Montesano at Oaksridge Golf Course in Elma.

The Beavers’ score of 222 was 25 strokes better than their season-opener when they shot 247, and coach Del Sandberg is more than happy with his team’s improvement.

“We did way better,” Sandberg said. “Really proud of them. They’re really happy with that score. None of the guys had played on that course before. Each week I want them to get better, compete and have fun.”

Ethan Baxter and David Dallaire led the Beavers on Thursday with scores of 52, while Jaxon Gore and Kaiden Lindholm each shot 59s. Also competing was Noah Pye (62), Preston Snider (68) and Jacob David (77).

Tenino (0-3) gets back in action on Tuesday when it travels to Kalama.
