Posted

W.F. West bested Montesano by a score of 16-2 here at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Tuesday during a faceoff between 1A/2A Evergreen Conference girls bowling foes.

In their first match of the season the Bearcats showed that they have only gained momentum since founding their bowling team in 2017.

Senior Leslie Erwin and sophomore Jessica Loflin led the way for the Bearcats victory. Erwin recorded scores of 199 and 175 while Loflin turned in consistent scores of 184 and 180. Ellie Bunker, a junior, also contributed the Bearcats first 200-game of the season with a high score of 213.

Those scores helped W.F. West to a 10-2 lead following the head-to-head matches and they were able to extend their lead in the Baker format rounds at the tail end of the competition with scores of 165 and 195.

W.F. West coach Donnie Bunker credited Brianna Powe for helping the Bearcats finish out the match strong. He called her end of the match performance “clutch” noting that she had struggled to “find her rhythm during the regular games.”

Bunker added that he “was very happy to see Brianna put her regular games behind her and focus on what she could do to help the team.”

The Bearcats picked up a total of 1902 pins in the contest. Powe rolled rounds of 102 and 104 while Stritmatter turned in scores of 142 and 128. Bunker posted a 115 in her first round.

Montesano was paced by Izabel Cope who managed scores of 113 and 170.

Coach Bunker called it a “dominant” win and noted that “the Bearcat coaching staff was very pleased with how the girls picked each other up during the match. It was a team victory.”

W.F. West (1-0) faces Rochester at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Monday in a league match.
