Tuesday's 2B Cross Country: Rainier Girls, Morton-White Pass Boys Win Central 2B League Titles

RAINIER — The Rainier girls and the Morton-White Pass boys were able to earn enough points to claim the team titles at the Central 2B League Championships cross country race here on Tuesday.

In the girls race, Rainier’s Selena Niemi finished second in 20 minutes, 29 seconds, and teammate Sophie Beadle placed third in 21:07. Cedar Tree Classical Christian’s Suzie Johnson won the race in 20:18.

Morton-White Pass’ Ayricka Hughes took seventh place in 22:02 and teammate Olyvia Brownell earned eighth in 22:47. Rainier’s Hazel Busic rounded out the Top 10 in 23:06.

Rainier won with 35 team points. Morton-White Pass finished second with 70 team points and Adna earned third with 90 points.

A quartet of Mountaineers were right behind Busic. Clara Wagner (23:20) finished 11th and Hailey Tyrrell (24:14.25) took 12th, barely finishing ahead of Lauren Jones (24:14.84). Khailyn Yarbrough (24:27) earned 14th.

Adna’s Faith Wellander (24:44) finished 15th and Rainier’s Lorianne Price (24:54) took 16th.



Adna’s Haileigh Brooks (24:55) took 17th, Rainier’s Emily Patton (25:10) earned 18th, MWP’s Haley Gowen (25:11) finished 19th and Adna’s Kaylin Todd (25:14) earned 20th place.

In the boys race, Toledo’s Nicholas Marty won the race in 16:49, more than 20 seconds ahead of Kalama’s Addison Smee in second place. Adna’s Aaron Aselton finished fourth in 18:00 and Rainier’s Dylan Davis placed fifth in 18:04.

Morton-White Pass won the boys team title with 47 points. Rainier finished second with 64 points and Mosyrock earned third with 99 points.

MWP’s Alex Brown finished eighth in 18:09 and teammate Matt Cooper took 11th in 18:22.24, narrowly defeating Rainier’s Ryan Doidge in 12th place in 18:22.66.

Mossyrock’s Christain Paz Tapia (18:31) finished 14th, MWP’s Asher Sympson (18:32) took 15th and Rainier’s Chase MacFarland (18:43) earned 17th place. MWP’s David Martinez (18:45) earned 18th place, Toledo’s Tyler Harris (18:52) finished 19th and Onalaska’s Lethon Fitch (19:06) rounded out the Top 20.

Adna, MWP, Onalaska, Rainier and Toledo will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 2, at the 1B/2B District 4 Championships in Onalaska.
