Summer Baseball: Vancouver Takes Down I-5 Toyota

VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Mavericks scored six runs in the fourth inning, which was enough to earn an 8-3 win over I-5 Toyota here on Thursday in a senior legion baseball game.

Camden Ryan started on the mound and was relieved by Brit Lusk in the fifth inning, who finished the game.

At the plate, Kyle Trout and Teegan Zillyet each hit a double. Bodey Smith had two hits including a double and Sawyer Burdick also added two hits for I-5 Toyota.

I-5 Toyota scored one run in the fifth inning and two runs in the sixth inning. It was a tough game for the visiting squad, who were forced to play with just eight players after Trout broke his finger in the fourth inning.

“Between injuries and football camps, it’s been a tough week getting guys here. We have 11 today so we’re in a little better shape,” I-5 Toyota coach Tom Grunenfelder said. “I’ve coached about 1,500 games, I’ve never had to play with eight players.”

I-5 Toyota will be at Wheeler and Borst this weekend for the LC Red Devil Tournament.
