YAKIMA — Twin City Union put up a solid fight against Yakima United here on Wednesday but wound up on the losing end of a 2-1 score in a Northwest Premier League women’s soccer playoff game at Yakima Valley College.

TCU scored the first goal of the game in the 22nd minute by Desiree Arocha. The lead didn’t last long as Yakima’s Haley Wammock scored in the 26th minute to even the score at one at halftime.

The game remained tied throughout the second half until the 88th minute, as Yakima United’s Natalie Wright found the back of the net and the home squad held on down the stretch for the win.

Twin City Union had their best season so far, finishing 2-5-1 overall to take fifth place in the NWPL and earn a playoff spot for the first time ever. TCU defeated the North Central Washington Alliance 2-0 in Week 3 and defeated Oly-Pen Force 4-1 in their final game of the season on June 29.
