VANCOUVER — The W.F. West girls wrestling team took a trip to Fort Vancouver on Saturday and came away with a third place finish at the Lady Trapper Invite.

Xylia Warner finished first in her weight class thanks to a pair of pins and a technical fall in the championship to lead the Bearcats. Courtney Jones and Tasha Dugger both placed second in their weight classes and notched three pines each.

“They wrestled tough against some of the best wrestling teams in our state, including Kelso and Union,” said W.F. West coach Matt Patana. “The girls are continuously improving and proving that they are among the better teams in Washington state.”

Paetynn Lopez, Gracie Combs, and Elizabeth Patana also claimed third place finishes for the Bearcats. Lopez earned two pins on the day and won her third place match by points in the final seconds. Combs notched two pins on the day while Patana pinned three of her opponents.

W.F. West will wrestle at Olympia on Thursday.
