2A Football: Bearcats Dominate Warriors

ROCHESTER — W.F. West quarterback Josiah Johnson ran for four touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to a 70-13 win against Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference football game here on Friday night.

Johnson had five attempts for 142 yards and four scores. Luke Wichert ran for 46 yards on 11 carries and Gavin Fugate added 21 yards on five attempts.

Johnson was 3-of-6 passing for 69 yards and a touchdown. Leandre Gaines caught one pass for 18 yards and a score and Cade Haller added one catch for 34 yards. Carter McCoy caught the other pass for 18 yards.

W.F. West outgained Rochester 289-157, but the Warriors committed five turnovers while the Bearcats coughed up just one fumble.

Jaiyden Camoza started the scoring with a 45-yard punt return touchdown. Johnson than ran in the next three scores on runs of 10, 20 and 65 yards. Johnson connected with Gaines for a score and Trent Peters recovered a fumble and took it 30 yards to the house for a 42-0 lead after one quarter.



Camoza ran in a 5-yard TD run and Johnson ran in his fourth score of the game on a 33-yard run. Aaron Fuller returned an interception 40-yards for a score and a 63-0 lead at halftime.

Gavin Fugate ran in 2-yard touchdown run to complete the W.F. West scoring in the third quarter.

Rochester got on the board in the fourth quarter on a 35-yard touchdown pass from Landon Hawes to Daillin Schlecht. Hawes found Bodey Smith for an 81-yard touchdown pass for the final score of the night.

Tristen Johnson led Rochester with 14 yards on 13 carries. Hawes was 5-of-14 passing for 152 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions. Smith caught three passes for 117 yards and one score and Schlecht caught one pass for 35 yards and a touchdown.

W.F. West (6-0, 2-0) hosts Tumwater in a battle for the top spot in the conference next Friday. Rochester (1-5, 0-2) hosts Centralia in the Warriors’ final home game of the season.
