ABERDEEN — Rochester was unable to overcome a rough start here at Rainier Lanes on Wednesday as they dropped a 1A/2A Evergreen Conference girls bowling match to the Bobcats by a score of 10.5 to 7.5.

The Bobcats were paced by Liliana Mercado-George’s game-high score of 159. Aberdeen won four of five matches and split the fifth contest in the first game.

Thaila Phothisat did her best to keep Rochester in contention by rolling 134 in both games. In the second game the Warriors mounted a valiant comeback attempt by taking three of five matches. Emily Holmes Pickernell had the high score in that game with a team-best round of 150 for the Warriors, and ended up with a total of 242.

“(It was a) slow start, but (we) improved with (the) second game and won both Baker Games,” wrote Rochester coach Kevin Nealer in an email to The Chronicle.

Phothisat and Aberdeen’s Meghan Howell both tallied 268 points to tie for the highest total score on the night.

In the junior varsity match Kayla Hubert bowled a 112 and Luz Martinez Gaxiola bowled a 117 to lead the Warriors.

The varsity match was reported by Aberdeen as a 12.5 to 5.5 final score and recorded as such in The Daily World as well as the Evergreen Conference website. However, Neal insists that the Warriors earned two extra points late in the contest.

“The Aberdeen coach had the point totals for overall pin fall as two points and we had two points awarded for the baker games,” explained Nealer. “We are trying to get it changed on the site and are communicating with the league to get the SOPs (standard operating procedures) solidified.”

Rochester (0-3) hosted Capital at Fairway Lanes on Friday. They will face W.F. West at Fairway Lanes at 3:30 p.m. for a league match on Monday.
