Letter to the Editor: It’s Time for a Change on Centralia School Board

Posted

It’s time for a change on Centralia’s School Board, and I’m happy to be supporting Beverly Clark in her campaign. The school board has struggled in the past with effective oversight of the district, transparency in decision making, and communication to the community and families.

I attended many school board meetings as a concerned community member during the teacher negotiations, as well as the district’s attempt to move the band program to after school. Ms. Clark spoke out at each, passionately encouraging the Board to do the right thing. I’ve seen first hand her commitment to what’s best for Centralia kids, and I was impressed.

Ms. Clark has also been clear about her belief that Centralia as a whole should be working much more in sync- meaning the city, the port district, and school district should all be working together for the betterment of our community. The recent switch to K-6 schools and the ensuing boundary fiasco shows how important it is for everyone to be vested in our schools and making them great.

Please join me in casting a vote for Beverly Clark for Centralia School Board!
