Greg Lund Wins Gail & Carolyn Shaw Award

On Thursday evening, the Lewis Economic Development Council recognized a man known for giving his time unconditionally, and working quietly behind the scenes — Greg Lund, of Century 21 Real Estate in Chehalis.

As is traditional at the Lewis EDC’s annual banquet, the past winner of the Gail & Carolyn Shaw Industry Award was presented by its past winner, Ralph Hubbert.

“I’ve got to work with him on several different things as many of you have. … He works quietly behind the scenes and does a lot,” said Hubbert, who took home the recognition last year, 11 years after his father Buck Hubbert.

Lund has been involved in a number of local and regional boards over the years, helped with Chehalis School District levies, and has been inducted into Century 21’s national hall of fame, Hubbert said.

Lund, who spoke briefly at Thursday night’s event at the Jester Auto Museum and Event Center in Chehalis, said he was “honored,” but had to think about what he had done to earn the honor.

“It’s the people you surround yourself with,” he said.

Lund noted that two past Gail & Carolyn Shaw award winners are close friends, and others are mentors.

“What they taught me was surround yourself with good people, speak your mind, sometimes my wife says I shouldn’t speak it as much, but that’s really what it’s all about — getting involved in the community and you see something that you think is maybe not going right and stick your nose in, get involved and stir up the pot,” he said.

Lund also thanked his father, who he works with on a daily basis.

“That’s a privilege,” he said. “Dad is the lifeblood of our company. He’s been in real estate here in Lewis County for 60 years. He is my mentor.”
