Centralia College Graduate Engineers Donation of Art to City

The city of Centralia unveiled a unique donation during its city council meeting on Tuesday — one that now hangs on the wall inside the council chambers.

Tyron Christopherson, a graduate of Centralia High School and Centralia College, appeared on behalf of himself and Bank of America to unveil a large piece of artwork that previously hung inside the now-shuttered Bank of America Financial Center on South Pearl Street.

Christopherson worked as the manager of the financial center from 2000-2004, commuting nearly 130 miles each day from his home near Puyallup.

“Managing our Centralia location was truly an honor,” Christopherson said. “It’s always held a special place in my heart.”

He reached out to the city after it was announced the financial center would close, which it did last month, and helped arrange the donation to ensure the unique piece that depicts various stages of early settled life in Centralia would remain in the community.

“It is my hope that this artwork will remind us of where our community began,” Christopherson said.
