Incumbent Democrat state Rep. Brian Blake is out in front of Hugh Fleet in the 19th District Position 2 race and has likely earned a seventh term in the Legislature.
Blake has thus far brought in 17,556 votes for 64.08 percent of the electorate; Fleet has 9,842 votes for 35.92 percent.
Since being elected in 2002, Blake’s track record defines him as a moderate Democrat.
Blake, a supporter of gun rights, opposed I-594, the initiative that proposed expanded background checks on guns. He also is a known supporter of unions.
Republican Hugh Fleet, a much more conservative candidate, opposed illegal immigrants attending public schools and what he deems an overly-intrusive government.
