Sirens: Rape Reported; Police Investigate Report of Assault With Machete; Homemade Explosive Device Found, State Patrol Bomb Unit Responds

Olympia Man Booked on Assault Charge

• At 7:33 a.m. on Monday, police responded to the 1300 block of Alexander Street in Centralia and arrested Rick S. Eddy, 59, of Olympia, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation.

Hit and Runs

• At 8:59 a.m. on Monday, a hit and run was reported in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue. A parked vehicle was damaged. 

• At 2:40 p.m. on Tuesday, a hit and run was reported at the intersection of Maple Street and Tower Avenue.  

Rape Reported

• At 10:36 a.m. on Monday, police received a third-party report of a rape that allegedly happened 10 years ago from someone in the 1200 block of Alder Street. The case is under investigation. 

Teens Face Charges for Taking Vehicle

• At 11:04 a.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a vehicle taken without permission in the 1400 block of Lewis Street. Two 17-year-olds are being referred for charges to Lewis County Juvenile Court. 

Tennessee Resident Booked for Burglary

• At 12:24 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 600 block of North Tower Avenue and arrested Nolan A. Prindle, 22, of Brighton, Tennessee on suspicion of second-degree burglary. Prindle was accused of breaking into a building and stealing clothing. 

Man Arrested, Accused of Punching Hole in Wall

• At 8:41 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the 3400 block of Galvin Road and arrested Joshua J. Bidwell, 38, of Centralia, on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief, domestic violence. He was accused of punching a hole in a wall during an argument with a household member. 

Homemade Explosive Device Found, State Patrol Bomb Unit Responds

• At 12:48 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report that someone had found a homemade explosive device in the 200 block of East Chestnut Street. The device was disposed of by the Washington State Patrol’s bomb unit. An investigation is ongoing.  

Graffiti Reported

• At 2:58 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of graffiti in the 700 block of F Street. 

Vehicle Prowl

• At 3:48 p.m. on Tuesday, a vehicle prowl was reported by the train station in the 200 block of North Railroad Avenue. An investigation is ongoing. 

Suspects Booked on Drug Violations

• At 5:49 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to the 500 block of South Diamond Street and arrested Alicia Schroeder, 32, of Centralia, on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. 

• At 2:03 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to the 300 block of Harrison Avenue and arrested Kaleb M. Brooks, 28, of Chehalis on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and on an outstanding state Department of Corrections warrant. 

Tires Slashed

• At 9:31 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report that a vehicle’s tires were slashed in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue.  

Police Investigate Report of Assault With Machete

• At 4:19 a.m. on Wednesday, police received a report of an assault with a machete in the 400 block of East Pine Street. The case is under investigation. 

Chehalis Police Department

Harassment Reported

• At 11:38 a.m. on Monday, police received a report of harassment in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue. A man reported a woman was “yelling and cussing” at his friend. 

Assault Reported at Green Hill

• At 11:53 a.m. on Monday, police received a report of a custodial assault occurring at Green Hill School in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street in Chehalis. The incident reportedly occurred Oct. 10. A 16-year-old boy from Federal Way is being referred to Lewis County Juvenile Court on suspicion of custodial assault.

Drugs Reported at Green Hill

• At 1:20 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a drug violation in the 300 block of Southwest 11th Street at Green Hill School.

Theft Reported

• At 2:56 p.m. on Monday, police received a report of a second-degree theft in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard. 

Vicious Dog Reported

• At 4:13 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a vicious dog in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard.

Hit and Run

• At 5:49 p.m. on Monday, a hit and run was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Rape Reported

• At 4:01 a.m. on Tuesday, a rape was reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard. 

Protection Order Violated

• At 8:33 a.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a violation of a protection order in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue.

Robbery Suspect Arrested

• At 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a robbery near the intersection of 20th Street and Snively Avenue. The incident reportedly began as a verbal argument between a man and a woman and allegedly ended with the man stealing the woman’s purse. Jonathan M. Matthews, 36, of Centralia, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery. 

Rental Trailer Reported Stolen

• At 12:13 p.m. on Tuesday, a rental trailer was reported stolen in the 300 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. The trailer was reportedly never returned. 

Scammer Purports to Be From U.S. Marshal’s Office

• At 2:12 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of a scam in the 10 block of Southwest 17th Street. A person reported a scam in which the scammer said they were from the U.S. Marshal’s Office. 

Vehicle Damaged in Malicious Mischief

• At 5:05 p.m. on Tuesday, malicious mischief was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street. A person reported a man kicked their vehicle and damaged it. 

Minors Caught Shoplifting

• At 5:46 p.m. on Tuesday, police received a report of two minors caught shoplifting in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue. 

Lewis County Jail Statistics

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 225 inmates, including 192 in general population, 31 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center and two on work release. Of general population inmates, 162 were men and 30 women and of WERC inmates, 28 were men and three women.
