The Lewis County American Association of University Women (AAUW) will hold its annual used book sale on Thursday, March 23, Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25 at the Moose Lodge, located at 1400 Grand Ave. in Centralia.

The book sale hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day.

Book prices will drop each day of the sale. On Thursday, book prices will be $3 for hardcover books and $2 for paperback books. On Friday, books will be $2 for hardcover and $1 for paperback. On Saturday, books will be sold at $5 per bag.

Thousands of fiction and nonfiction books, audiobooks, CDs and DVDs will be on sale. Nonfiction books will be separated into over 50 categories, including biography, cooking, history, religion, self-help and a large selection of children’s books. There will be books for the shoppers’ own reading pleasure as well as gifts, such as coffee table books, cookbooks, “golden oldies” and the latest bestsellers, according to a news release.

AAUW got some big help in preparing for the sale last Saturday as Scout Troop 373 helped move 700 boxes of books to the Moose Lodge.

Since the first book sale in 1979, the Lewis County AAUW book sale has provided thousands of locals with the opportunity to discover and purchase books of all types at bargain prices. Proceeds from the book sale support the mission of AAUW, education for women. The money raised from the book sale finances numerous scholarships for college and science, technology, engineering and math-focused summer camps for girls in middle and high school. The Lewis County AAUW also co-sponsors “Expanding Your Horizons,” a hands-on career day for middle school students each October, and hosts LUNAFEST, a festival of films by, for and about women each April.

The AAUW was founded in 1881 and is the largest and oldest national organization working for the professional and educational advancement of women. The Lewis County branch of the AAUW will be celebrating its 100th anniversary this year.
