The Centralia College men’s basketball team capped off a CC sweep after the women’s team won its game Saturday, holding off South Puget Sound 70-69.
“This was the best game as a team we’ve played all year,” first-year head coach Joe Chirhart said. “Huge win for our program.”
Nashon Hednerson Crews drilled a 3-pointer with just over two minutes left to give the Blazers a 68-67 lead, and with 24 seconds remaining, Kevin Williams converted a pair of free throws to make it 70-67. Coming back down the other way, the Clippers got two separate cracks at a game-tying 3-pointer but missed both, before making a layup at the buzzer that was too little, too late.
Henderson Crews led the Blazers with 23 points, finishing 5 for 11 from beyond the arc. Ahren Bee-Richards pitched in five 3-pointers and 18 points in 31 minutes off the bench.
Jovany Guzman dished out four assists in his first start of the season.
CC will host Highline on Wednesday.
