Weekend Track & Field: W.F. West With Strong Showing at Cardinal Relays

ORTING — W.F. West’s Colby White, Lafe Johnson, Megan Pallas and Megan Flexhaug each earned individual top three finishes here at the Cardinal Relays track & field meet here on Saturday.

Pallas placed second in the javelin with a throw of 104 feet, 5 inches. Flexhaug earned second in the pole vault with a height of 9-6. Kelly Robertson had a fifth place finish for the Bearcats in the 300 hurdles with a time of 50.84 seconds.

The 4x400 relay team of Nina Heither, Courtney Bennett, Elizabeth Patana and Robertson earned third place with a time of 4:27.55.

On the boys side, White earned second in the triple jump with a distance of 42-10 and finished second in the high jump with a lead of 6-0. Johnson earned third in the pole vault with a height of 13-0.

The 4x400 relay team of Carver Brennan, Sonny Holub, Aaron Fuller and Gerardo Sanchez-Carpio took third place with a time of 3:38.92.

W.F. West competes next on Saturday at the Curtis Viking Relay Championships.

Pe Ell Boys Finish Fourth at Rainier Icebreaker Invitational

RAINIER — The Pe Ell boys finished fourth in a field of 17 teams at the Rainier Icebreaker Invitational track & field meet here on Saturday.

Andrew Schulz had another strong showing for the Trojans, winning the long jump with a distance of 21 feet, 2 inches. He also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 41-08 and teammate Dana Isham earned third with a distance of 41-03.

Schulz finished third in the 100 (11.80 seconds) and the 200 (24.18).

Braeden McAllister took second in the 300 hurdles (44.45) and fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.68).

Napavine had some solid individual performances as well. Chloe Stewart won the triple jump with a distance of 34-04 and placed third in the 100 hurdles (17.10). Trinity Underhill picked up a third place finish in the pole vault (6-06).



The Tigers’ Draven Riddle won the triple jump (42-01) and took third in the high jump (5-04). Keith Olson earned third place in the shot put (47-07) and the 4x100 relay team of Hayden Lester, Cade Evander, Draven Riddle and Lucas Dahl took fourth place (46.20).

Tenino’s Ashleigh Adams placed fourth in the triple jump (31-01) and Paxton Russell finished fifth in the discus (124-01).

Napavine travels to Onalaska on Thursday for a Central 2B League meet. Pe Ell travels to North Beach on Thursday for a Pacific 2B League meet. Tenino heads to Hoquiam on Thursday for a 1A Evergreen League meet.

Schaplow, Soto Earn Wins at Seattle Academy Relays

SHORELINE — Toledo’s Kal Schaplow and Miguel Soto each earned wins at the Seattle Academy Relays track & field meet here on Saturday.

Schaplow won the javelin with a throw of 108 feet, 8 inches. Toledo’s Nyssa Castro placed fourth in the discus with a distance of 70 feet. The 4x100 relay team of Alyssa Gaskill, Stacie Spahr, Schaplow and Maryssa Peters placed fifth with a time of 57.37.

On the boys side, Soto won the triple jump with a distance of 37-06 and placed third in the long jump with a distance of 18-06.

Nicholas Marty earned third place in the 1600 with a time of 4:40.08 and took fourth in the 800 with a time of 2:09.10.

Anthony Peak placed third in the 110 hurdles (17.17) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (46.88).

Jacob Butcher finished third in the shot put (40-07) and Ethan Buck took third in the javelin with a distance of (146-00). Michael Echtle earned fourth in the discus (105-07).

Toledo is back in action on Thursday, traveling to Toutle Lake for a Central 2B League meet.
