Reader responds after county commissioners direct staff to begin eminent domain proceedings on Highway 603 properties near Winlock:

Barbara Nichols: Lewis eminent domain. Just so sad that land that you’ve bought, paid taxes on and have loved can be taken away — and it’s all legal. I know that road well, travel on it often and just do not understand why the need to widen it there.

Readers respond to story on Facebook detailing how state’s massive fires could burn until the fall:

Kirk Kestner: Global warming is for real and a fact and only getting worse if people don’t change.

Area Crafter: I’m seeing more and more all electric cars in Centralia/Chehalis, but we need hundreds more — test drive one today.

Katie Renae Long: We need rain so bad over here. It would not only help with the fires but the smoke too. I’m so heartbroken to watch my side of the state burn to nothing. We are asking for donations for this area for the victims if anyone cares to know.

Sunny Barclift: Thank you for acknowledging global warming.

S.T.O.P. and Swim to Fail?

User Name: jbundy48

I wish to concur with Debra Mitchell on the matter of S.T.O.P. This seems truly to be a case of looking a gift horse in the mouth. I can only conclude that there’s some kind of agenda going on here, to block this effort at every turn, by any means and with any excuse. There are quite a few good venues in downtown, but this one would be for the kids of summer, something lacking in that area. I learned to swim in two different community pools as a kid, one in Canada without any heating of the water at all, and one in Texas, which didn’t need it. It’d bring smiles to know that our kids in this town were having the kind of fun I did those many years ago.

Pat is as honest as the day is long. Called today, needed to sell my silver. Market is 2.6566 a quarter. Pat is buying at 2.63 a quarter. That’s a slim, margin in hard times! Thank you Pat for being a good honest businessman who has honest scales!
