Names in the News: Slattery, Chehalis MS musicians

Senior at W.F. West Admitted to Columbia University in NYC

W.F. West High School senior Rory Slattery has been admitted to Columbia University in New York City for this fall.

Slattery is a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. She has taken advanced coursework in the STEM area and every available Advanced Placement class offered at W.F. West. In 2015, she piloted a new human geography advanced placement class.

She has taken numerous SAT subject tests and college in the high school pre-calculus. She currently has a 4.0 grade point average and is No. 1 in her class.

In addition to taking advantage of rigorous college preparatory work at W.F. West, Slattery has been an active student leader. She is president of the school’s 150 member National Honor Society, president of the Global History and Culture Club, public relations lead of the FIRST Robotics Competition team 4060, and a team captain of the varsity Knowledge Bowl team.

Stattery performed with the W.F. West Theatre in productions of “Mulan” and “The Addams Family.”
