Miss Newaukum Valley

Courtney Teitzel, 17, was presented the crown of Miss Newaukum Valley on Friday, July 14, and is the recipient of a scholarship from the Napavine/Newaukum Lions Club. The outgoing Miss Newaukum Valley, Haily Durham, presented the crown at a ceremony at the Napavine Elementary School as part of the opening ceremonies of the Napavine Funtime Festival.  Courtney and her parents, Robert and Heather Teitzel, are residents of Napavine. Hailey Massey, first runnerup, will be supporting Tietzel in her duties throughout the upcoming year as a member of the Miss Newaukum

Valley court. Teitzel is beginning her senior year this fall at Napavine High School. Before the next school year begins, Teitzel will be completing her nursing assistant certification and plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing after graduation.  The Miss Newaukum Valley Scholarship foundation is a community based project of the Napavine/Newaukum Lions Club. The winner is chosen based on a panel interview, community involvement and academic achievement.
