Five Rochester High School Juniors Seeking Title of Swede Day Queen

This year’s Swede Day Queen Coronation ceremony will feature five girls who are juniors at Rochester High School.

The ceremony will be at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at Swede Hall, 18543 Albany St., Rochester.

The contestants, in alphabetical order, and parents are, are, Shelby Baird (Kent and Deana Baird), Allison Beagley (Kim and Curtis Beagley), Katie Long (Luke and Shelly Long), Elizabeth Miller (Mark Miller and Rosemary Zembas), and Krimzyn Robarge (Brad and Shaundi Robarge).

The court will represent the Grand Mound-Rochester area in local parades and events, including Swede Day, which will be on June 17.

Scholarships for last year’s Swede Day Royalty will be presented at the coronation. They are being provided by McFarland Cascade; Cindi Whiting, of Grand Mound Edward Jones; Lucky Eagle Casino; Hinkle Homes; Bailey’s IGA; and Grand Mound Keybank.

New for this year’s coronation are:



• Free bejeweled crowns at the door for any little princesses or princes who ask.

• Photos taken with the new royalty court right after the ceremony.

There will be the traditional homemade strawberry shortcake and beverages as well as live music. Admission is $3, plus one Swede Day button (available for $1 at the door.)
