Christina Mae Wolf: Thank you for this! My thoughts exactly. Having grown up here and now owning a business downtown, I am amazed by all the art, culture, activities and vibrancy this community now boasts and that there are STILL those that complain while doing nothing to contribute to positive change. I am so proud of our community and proud to be a part of the momentum of positive change that is happening NOW! For those who still say there’s nothing happening here (or that, God forbid, we need an Olive Garden!), I’m sorry to say you haven’t been paying attention — and I echo and praise our editor’s profound words of “shut it!”

Karan L. Wright: If people want to whine about our beautiful town, they can pack it up and leave. This is not Olympia nor do we want it to be. I sometimes think I wouldn’t mind a Costco in Chehalis, but then I think that would probably cause more crowds and traffic issues. Tumwater isn’t far. I love our little community and anyone who complains is absolutely free to leave.

Michael Perozzo: Centralia does not need any chain stores or restaurants. Support local businesses and entrepreneurs and keep the cookie-cutter crap out.

Cassie Norskog: This place formed me into the human being I am today. It has flaws. So do I. But it has given far more than it has taken.

I just moved here from West Palm Beach Florida. I love it here. The small town feel is great and the big city is right up the road. Be proud of what you have here. I left a big city with a lot more crime than we have here and the bigger the city, the worse the politics. The Olive Garden is really not that good anyway and the food at Red Robin is always cold.

Amen, Eric! Well said! I love teaching here, my band kids work hard, and the community support for music education is top-notch.

And to think there is an abandoned coal mine just to the west of the proposed wind farm. It’ll be a great opportunity for new employment for the post coal employees, or their children. Hydroelectric is wonderfully efficient, but there is only so much elevation change on already dammed up rivers. What remote USA needs is moderate paying, technical jobs, not power shipped in from afar. Wind jobs provide more jobs per megawatt than hydro ever has.
