The Washington State Fraternal Order of Eagles held its annual convention June 18-20 in Yakima, with approximately 600 in attendance.

The joint charity for the 2014-15 fraternal year was Pope’s Kids Place, and during the formal banquet on June 18 a total of $42,000 was presented to Pope’s Kids Place in the form of grants for heart monitors, wheel chair scale, autoclave, dialysis system, diabetic equipment, power lift, refrigerator system, medical clinic equipment, and dental camera.

In addition, approximately $86,000 was raised by FOE members throughout the state of Washington, bringing the grand total for Pope’s Kids Place alone to $128,000.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles is a nonprofit charitable organization.  All grant monies go to research, equipment and educational materials; nothing may go to salaries.

The Eagles also raise money for local community programs, which includes local food banks, animal shelters, senior centers and libraries.  More information on the Eagles can be obtained on the local Washington state website at http://www.waeagles.org, as well as the national website at http://www.foe.com.

The two local Eagles aeries are in Centralia at 2308 N. Pearl St. and in Chehalis at 1993 S. Market Boulevard.
