Chuck Haunreiter: My philosophy has always been, if you’re not going to eat it, don’t shoot it. Except for predators, like coyotes. I’m not impressed with people like that business in downtown Chehalis showing off their trophies to prove their manhood.

Andy Watts: Probably the only thing that we will ever agree on, Chuck. I’m a hunter but have never been about trophy hunting. You could have left that last part out though. What they do downtown is their business, not for your liberal fascist scrutiny. However, shooting a caged animal just because is another whole thing, and I’m glad that he was caught and fined. And he should lose his hunting rights at least for awhile.

Cretia Olsen: When we lived in Alaska we had a clothing exchange at our church, usually the week before school started. We asked people to bring their clean and in good condition clothing and shoes, from infants to adults. We had the gym all marked where to place it, and from noon to 4 they could take anything their family could use. We did it for 26 years, and when we left four other buildings were doing the same thing at about the same time. We had people who needed clothing for themselves and/or their children. When we were finished, we took what was left and packed it up and took it out to Camp Carroll, where the National Guard would box it and then take it to the villages in the bush as part of their Christmas travel to the villages of Alaska with Santa in tow. They gave it to them free also. Over the years, we provided clothing to the people who came to Alaska but had nothing other than what they could bring in their car. There was the family where the father was out of work and they needed our clothing exchange, or the teenage boy who was thrilled to pick out sweaters and pants. It all started when my mother-in-law sent two pairs of wool slacks for my daughters and she got women’s sizes and not girls. It was the beginning of a wonderful experience for my daughters and myself and other members of the LDS church.

Danielle Justice: This is awesome! I have been looking for somewhere to donate my daughters clothes!

Sen. Swecker, my father, is a hero, for many reasons. I’m so proud to see this published and for him to be recognized for even just a few of the things he’s accomplished.
