Chronicle Facebook followers respond to post of “Holding Cellphones While Driving Will Be Banned July 23:”

Douglas Lukascik: and cops, will they be required to obey THIS law? They don’t ever seem to be charged with murder or manslaughter.

Kyle Maxwell: Another crap law from Inslee! This was only put in place as a revenue stream to help stop the leaking holes in their budget! No reason this needs to be regulated like this. If someone creates an accident or kills someone make them liable then. There are a lot of people who use their phone daily who have never been in an accident! If they are worried about teens teach them some damn responsibility. The rest of us shouldn’t be punished for the mistakes of a few!

Kathleen Alexander: I just think being illegal while stopped at a stop light is ridiculous. Is there any data I don’t know about that justifies this part of the law? Do people die or cause/have accidents holding a phone while at a stop light?

Maria Morales: Shows how attached people are to their phone that they have to complain about a law against holding phones while driving. How about just focus on the driving part.

Vicki Sharp: Once again, lets have a little civics lesson. Inslee is NOT the one who writes up the laws, that is the responsibility of the state Legislature. They write the bills that are reviewed by both the House and Senate and then are sent to the governor for approval and to be signed into law. If you’re going to be bitching about the government, at least know what you’re talking about first, OK?

• Story: Hank the Dog Set to Be Euthanized as Judge Upholds ‘Dangerous’ Classification

OK, I live clear across the country, but, I had to register and post because I cannot fathom the absurd rationale of Judge Buzzard. Clearly, he based his decision on subjective opinion while completely ignoring sworn eyewitness testimony and irrefutable evidence that Hank is not a dangerous dog. He is allowing his ego to control. What kind of judge is this? If he can be so obviously arbitrary when deciding the fate of a dog, how can he be trusted to decide the fate of a human? My impression is that Judge Buzzard has no business being on the bench, and, assuming he was voted in, should be voted very quickly out of his robe at the next election. My dog, the most gentle and loving dog I ever knew, killed a squirrel once. Should he have gotten a death sentence because he posed a danger to all squirrels? Ludicrous reasoning. Let Hank go home to his family and stop this nonsense.
