Chehalis Presbyterians to 'Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive'

Westminster Presbyterian

The Rev. Ralph Carr will lead the 8 and 10:15 a.m. worship services Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Chehalis. Communion will be served. "Friends, Too," a trio consisting of Carolin Auvil, Carol Mason-Page and Patty Kolstad, will sing "Ac-cent-tchu-ate the Positive" and "Sing Praises."

Michael Wood will speak and Communion will be served at "A New Creation," a contemporary worship service of celebration and praise, at 6 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary.

Chehalis Baptist Church

The Chehalis Baptist Church will hold its first meeting upstairs in the new Yard Birds Mall, located at 2100 N. National Ave., Sunday. The Rev. Jason Rigby has been in the local area for two months gathering those who are interested in the new church.

Rigby indicated the church will be an Independent Fundamental Missionary Baptist church with affiliation to the American Baptist Association.

He wrote, "Our church is conservative in nature which indicates we follow the traditional beliefs that Baptists have held through the centuries."

The cleric added, "We will be evangelistic in outreach because the purpose of the church is found in the Great Commission. The Community outreach and verse-by-verse Bible preaching nature of the church is translated in numerical attendance goals."

Rigby has set a goal of 100 in attendance within the first year. He also plans to offer all the services of a church, and to purchase land for a building within the next year. The new venture is partly underwritten by Landmark Baptist Church of Olympia.

The new church will begin this Sunday with three Sunday school classes at 10 a.m. and the morning worship at 11 a.m. A nursery will be provided for infants and children up to 4 years of age.

Morton Ministerial Association

The Morton Ministerial Association is sponsoring a summer vacation Bible school. It will be held at the Morton United Methodist Community Church, on the corner of Fourth and Main, from 9 a.m. to noon this Monday through Friday. Centralia Community

All may attend either the 8:30 or 11 a.m. worship services Sunday at Centralia Community Church of God. The 8:30 a.m. service features contemporary praise and worship music, and the 11 a.m. service features a blend of hymns and contemporary choruses.

The church is sponsoring Operation Backpack, an outreach to assist families in need of school supplies. The church is currently taking donations of basic supplies and backpacks, or monetary donations to purchase desired items. Centralia Nazarene

The Rev. Antonie and Wilma Holleman, Nazarene missionaries at the European Nazarene College in Busingen, Switzerland, will be guests Sunday at First Church of the Nazarene in Centralia.

Both serve as faculty members at the European Nazarene College, which is the primary educational center for training Nazarene pastors and local leaders for continental Europe.

In addition to teaching, the Rev. Antonie Holleman is also responsible for the extension and distance-learning program of the school, which has up to 20 extension centers throughout Europe and far into the Asian part of Russia, with more than 150 students. The Hollemans will share about developments of the Church of the Nazarene in Europe in both the 9:15 and 10:45 a.m. worship services.

The public may attend a family night at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. The Jubilee Gang will present a night filled with multi-media ministry including character skits, funny video clips, Nickelodeon-style games, object lessons and illustrated sermons. This event is sponsored by Children's Ministries at the Centralia Nazarene church, and is free for the whole family.

Immanuel Lutheran

All may worship with Immanuel Lutheran Church at 9:30 a.m. Sundays at the new church facility at 1209 N. Scheuber, Centralia. The Rev. Bernt Elle will speak Sunday. There is no Sunday school until the fall.

St. Mary's Catholic

Fifteen decades of the Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. today at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centralia. The intention of these prayers is for world peace, and all may attend.

Reconciliation will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. today.

Weekend Masses will be at 5 p.m. today and again on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The sacrament of baptism will take place at the 5 p.m. Mass. Those needing a ride to Mass may telephone the parish office at 736-4356.

Daily Masses will be Monday and Wednesday at 9 a.m. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will follow the Monday Mass until 5 p.m. The Legion of Mary will meet in the Activity Center following the Monday Mass, and the youth group will meet Monday at 7 p.m. in the parish hall.

The Golden Fellowship Mass for seniors at St. Mary's and the surrounding faith communities will be at 11 a.m. Thursday. This will be a Mass of anointing. Following the Mass, a light lunch will be served in the parish hall. All may attend.

Salkum Community

Guest speaker at the Salkum Community Church of the Brethren Sunday will be Virgil Compton of Olympia. Compton was reared in the Morton area and has been a lay speaker at churches. The morning worship service begins at 10:50 a.m. with hymn singing. The deacons will serve Communion before the close of the worship service.

Onalaska Community

St. Joseph Catholic

Today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Chehalis, the sacrament of reconciliation will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The Rev. John McLaughlin will preside at the Vigil Mass at 5 p.m. today. The Rev. Timothy Ilgen will preside at the 7 p.m. Mass in Spanish.

At the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass, the Rev. Tuan Nguyen will preside, and will also confer the sacrament of baptism.

The Legion of Mary will meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the meeting house.

Liturgy of the Word will take place Thursday at 9 a.m., with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament to follow until 6:45 p.m.

Living Stones Fellowship

Bethel Assembly

"Summer: A Time For Restoration" is the title of the sermon to be given by the Rev. Don Detrick at the 8 a.m. traditional service, 9:30 a.m. Day 1 contemporary service, and 10:45 a.m. blended service Sunday at Bethel Church of the Assemblies of God in Napavine.
