Readers react on Facebook after state law enforcement officials bust four marijuana retailers for selling to minors during a sting:

Posted

Brian Carroll: The lack of attentive merchants is to blame here, not cannabis itself. How many adults nowadays were able to buy alcohol/tobacco without proper I.D. as a teen? Many of us. What’s ultimately worse for the individual/society...area minors with a few grams of ganja, or with booze and cigs? This is an attempt to demonize the plant as a looming threat, when the real issue is the upholding of laws by the merchants themselves. Youth always look for a way to get over. Don’t blame the plant, blame the proprietors and policy-enforcers who clearly have their priorities askew.

Derick Falk: This already happens with tobacco and alcohol. The most you can do is get better employees.

Curtis Bush: Why aren’t “sting“ operations considered an illegal form of entrapment? While I don’t condone breaking the law, unfortunately these undercover operations consist of bending the rules to profit government.

Adam Barr: Isn’t it illegal to attempt to purchase alcohol, tobacco or cannibas while being underage? Not just to sell it, but attempting to purchase.

Over as Bob Berg Retires

Good luck to Chief Berg in his retirement and with his grandson. The only problem I see in this is why can’t our officers and chief live within Centralia? I do believe if an officer is going to work for Centralia they should live here. I do not support giving a officer a car to drive back and forth to another city such as Rochester, Tenino, Silver Creek. I think Centralia should start to think about the wear and tear on cars and the gas that could be saved when hiring future officers. Other than that, thanks to all for your service and help.

Shooting of Two Men in Olympia

What a relief it must be for the Evergreen community to finally have something to feel guilty about and go protesting over. I can’t imagine how rough it’s been for the liberals in Olympia to be at home watching protests while there’s peace in their own neighborhoods.
