Walter and Mardell Graham

Walter and Mardell Graham celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on Aug. 2. Family and friends honored them at their residence at Woodland Estates in Chehalis.

The Woodland staff, headed by Mark Clendon, helped make the party a big success.

Walter and Mardell owned and operated W.B. Graham and Sons Heavy Hauling. The company completed many highway and bridge projects throughout Western Washington.

Mardell was a Chehalis City Council member for three terms. She has been an Eastern Star for over 65 years and held position of worthy matron. Walter has been a Mason for 65 years. He was honored by the Masons for being one of the most senior members in the state.

They are longtime members of the Chehalis Methodist Church, where they were married 75 years ago.

The Grahams have two sons, Richard and Dennis, five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

When asked what they contribute to such a long, loving marriage, their response was, “Love and respect each other, be best friends and settle every disagreement with a kiss.”
