Thelma May (Sloan) Stitham passed away June 21, 2018, in Tumwater, Wash. She was born Sept. 26, 1934, to John Delbert and Alice Ruth (Knittle) Sloan in Morton, Wash. She grew up in Morton and, after high school graduation, attended a year at Centralia Junior College, where she met and married Amos Stitham.

In her youth, Thelma was a natural athlete. She played women’s fast pitch as a young adult and was a lifelong sports enthusiast. She was a devoted Seahawk and Mariners fan, but especially loved supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s sports events: T-ball; little league; high school baseball, football, wrestling and track and field; 4-H horse events; and Tumwater High School equestrian competitions.

Thelma was a lifetime member (50 years plus) of the Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Littlerock Community Church.

She is survived by her son, Amos Stitham of Boise, Idaho; daughter, Alice Swidecki of Tenino, Wash.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and brother, Roland Sloan of Chelan, Wash.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; and grandsons, Ryan John Swidecki and Joshua Amos Stitham.

An informal gathering of family and friends will be held in late September.
