Winlock Stumbles Against Reigning District Champ Kalama

Still searching for its first win, the Winlock girls soccer team couldn’t keep pace with the reigning district champ Kalama in an 8-0 loss Monday night.

Playing with just one sub, and learning a new system under coach Corny Sanchez, the Cardinals gave up goals early, and got tired in the second half, with the Chinooks (5-1) holding a significant roster size advantage.

“We played better defense,” Sanchez said. “We just need to keep moving in the right direction and keep getting better.”

The Cardinals will seek that illusive first win against undefeated Toledo on Wednesday at home.
