Store Closed Temporarily on May 25 After Vehicle Crashed Into Business

Visiting Nurses Centralia Thrift Store to Reopen May 31 Following Repairs

Posted

After damage from a car crash forced the Visiting Nurses thrift shop in Centralia to close last week, Visiting Nurses announced Tuesday the building would be safe to reopen on Wednesday, May 31.

“Thanks to Sandrini Restoration LLC, our building is now secure and safe to reopen tomorrow!” Visiting Nurses announced in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

The store was evacuated and forced to close the morning of Thursday, May 25, after a vehicle crashed through the building’s windows.

The vehicle that ended up inside the thrift store was reportedly pulling out from the business’ parking lot when a second vehicle, traveling south on Pearl Street at a high rate of speed, crashed into it and sent it “careening” into the Visiting Nurses storefront, according to the Centralia Police Department.

The driver of the vehicle that ended up inside the store sustained minor injuries from the crash and one customer sustained minor injuries from flying debris and broken glass, according to the Centralia Police Department. No other injuries were reported.

Speed was a factor in the crash, according to the Centralia Police Department, but officers have determined neither of the two drivers were impaired at the time.

No criminal citations related to the crash have been issued.

Sandrini Restoration LLC responded to the location quickly after the crash and conducted a structural evaluation on the building, according to Visiting Nurses.

“The front section of the store will not be accessible until the damage is fully repaired, but the rest of the store will be open for business,” Visiting Nurses said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.

Visiting Nurses Centralia Thrift Store is located at 222 South Pearl St. Visiting Nurses Chehalis Thrift Store, which remained open during the Centralia closure, is located at 435 Northwest Chehalis Ave.

The thrift stores are both operated by the Visiting Nurses Foundation, a nonprofit that supports home health and hospice care in Lewis, Thurston, Jefferson, Clallam, Mason, Grant, Adams and Lincoln counties.

Business hours for both thrift store locations are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
