Sirens: Stolen Yard Ornaments; Illegal Burning; Burglary; People Climbing in Places They Shouldn’t; Butter Smeared On a Vehicle

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 100 block of South Pearl Street at 12:35 p.m. on Sept. 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault after a witness observed him “kicking his girlfriend in the head” during a dispute.

• A physical dispute between several people that resulted in “some minor injuries” was reported in the 100 block of South Tower Avenue at approximately 1:05 p.m. on Oct. 1. The case is under investigation.

 

Retail Theft

• A BB/pellet pistol was reported stolen from a business in the 1600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:05 a.m. on Oct. 1. The suspect fled the scene on a bicycle. The case is under investigation.

• A Tacoma man was arrested in the 1200 block of Lum Road at noon on Oct. 1 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail on an outstanding warrant and for allegedly trying to steal a pair of $175 pants from a business.

• A Centralia woman was cited for third-degree theft for allegedly shoplifting from a business in the 700 block of North Tower Avenue just before 6:10 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• A Grays Harbor man was arrested in the 600 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:50 p.m. on Oct. 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for third-degree theft for allegedly possessing cans of paint that were reported stolen from a business. Additional theft allegations were added after he was booked into the jail.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• Just before 12:45 p.m. on Oct. 1, multiple items, including a portable Garmin fish finder, a laptop computer and fishing gear were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in an apartment complex parking lot in the 2800 block of Russell Road sometime overnight.

• A black Husky tool box and various tools were reported stolen from the bed of a pickup in the 1000 block of Scammon Creek Road at 8:15 a.m. on Oct. 2.

 

Stolen Yard Ornaments

• At approximately 2:10 p.m. on Sept. 30, yard ornaments were reported stolen from a yard in the 2200 block of Earl Street sometime overnight.

 

Burglary

• A Bremerton woman was arrested in the 200 block of North Tower Avenue just after 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 2 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for second-degree burglary after she was found inside a vehicle parked in a private garage. The suspect had allegedly gained unlawful access to the apartment building along with a male suspect sometime overnight. Items were reported missing from the garage area and apartment common areas. This case is under investigation.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A Centralia man was cited for hit-and-run just after 2:50 a.m. on Oct. 1 after he left the scene of a collision in the 1500 block of Grand Avenue on foot, abandoning his vehicle. The vehicle had left the roadway and struck a small power pole and a cement block mailbox stand. No injuries were reported.

• At approximately 5 a.m. on Oct. 1, a hit-and-run to a parked pickup that occurred in the 100 block of North Tower Avenue sometime overnight was reported.

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Harrison and Belmont avenues just before 10:35 a.m. on Oct. 1. A vehicle had reportedly changed lanes into the path of another vehicle.

• A non-injury collision was reported just before 2:05 p.m. on Oct. 1 when a person riding a longboard on the roadway in the 2500 block of Borst Avenue hit the mirror of a vehicle passing by. Officers are investigating the case “to determine if a law was violated.”

• A motorcyclist reported minor injuries after a vehicle versus motorcycle accident at the intersection of West First and K streets just after 5:55 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• Minor injuries were reported from a two-vehicle collision in the 1600 block of North Scheuber Road just after 7:25 p.m. on Oct. 1. The at-fault driver had reportedly tried to pass a vehicle making  a left turn.

 

Illegal Burning

• A Centralia woman was cited for illegal outdoor burning at approximately 7 a.m. on Oct. 1 after an officer observed smoke coming from under a bridge in the 8200 block of Collector Distributor Lane. The officer located “a smolder pile of plastic and rubber items being burnt.”

 

Open Container

• Two people were issued infractions for consuming alcohol in Washington Park, located in the 110 block of South Pearl Street, at approximately 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 1.

 

Trespassing

• An adult female was trespassed from the former Bank of America property in the 100 block of South Pearl Street after she was located in an alcove of the building at approximately 12:20 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• A disorderly subject was trespassed from a business in the 200 block of South Pearl Street at approximately 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 2.

• A man was trespassed from private property in the 200 block of Centralia College Boulevard at 7 p.m. on Oct. 2.

 

Eluding

• An officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle with no license plate in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 2. The rider reportedly sped off in a reckless manner through a parking lot, with numerous pedestrians and parked vehicles nearby. The officer did not pursue the motorcycle.

• An officer attempted a traffic stop on a pickup at the intersection of Allen Avenue and Mt. Vista Road at 9:05 p.m. on Oct. 2 but the driver fled at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at a stop sign as it fled. The officer did not pursue the pickup.

 



CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Pounding on Doors

• A disorderly subject reportedly pounded on a residential doorway in the 200 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 2:20 p.m. on Sept. 30.

• A caller in the 10 block of Southwest Sixth Street reported someone “was rattling” their door at approximately 1:55 a.m. on Oct. 2. The caller advised they went “outside with a machete in the alley” but didn’t see anyone, but someone rang their doorbell just after 2 a.m.

 

People Climbing in Places They Shouldn’t

• A subject reportedly climbed into a dumpster in the 300 block of Southwest 10th Street at 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 30.

• A woman reportedly tried to climb through someone’s window in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just after 10 p.m. on Oct. 1. No arrests were made.

 

Threatening Behavior

• A man in the 800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue was reportedly “walking past State Patrol littering and flipping people off” just before 4:05 p.m. on Sept. 30.

• A group of three juveniles reportedly walked past a residence in the 200 block of Southwest John Street “talking about shooting someone.” The caller told dispatch he suspected the youths were “the same punks that broke into his vehicle” and told the dispatcher he “would like to talk to the subjects about ‘getting their punk a-- home.’” The caller additionally advised “he will defend himself if something happens.” No arrests were made.

• An unidentified male subject was reportedly throwing rocks at a woman in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 1. 

• Three to four people were reportedly “threatening” someone outside an apartment complex in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 10:05 p.m. on Oct. 1.

 

Butter Smeared On a Vehicle

• Just after 9:50 a.m. on Oct. 2, a caller reported someone had smeared butter on their vehicle in the 100 block of Northeast Division Street and “wrote things on it.” 

 

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of South Market Boulevard and East Main Street just after 9:45 a.m. on Sept. 30.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 1300 block of Northwest State Avenue just after 2:40 p.m. on Sept. 30.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1:45 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle accident was reported in the 500 block of North Market Boulevard just before 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 1.

 

Theft

• A trailer was reported stolen from the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 10 a.m. on Sept. 30.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1900 block of South Market Boulevard just before 5:45 p.m. on Sept. 30 is under investigation.

• A woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue jsut before 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• A possible theft was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10:50 a.m. on Oct. 2.

 

Vicious Dog

• A case involving a vicious dog that was reported in the 1600 block of Southwest Snively Avenue at approximately 11:10 a.m. on Oct. 1 is under investigation.

 

Dog in Vehicle

• A “little dog in distress” was reported inside a vehicle parked in the 1500 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 1. The caller advised the vehicle’s windows were cracked open and said the dog had been in the vehicle for at least 20 minutes.

 

Disputes

• A possible dispute was reported at the intersection of Northwest Pacific Avenue and Northwest Front Street just before 6:50 p.m. on Oct. 1.

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 200 block of Northeast Washington Avenue just before 10:20 p.m. on Oct. 1.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 192 inmates, including 177 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 150 were reported male and 27 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 13 were reported male and two were reported female.
