Sirens: DUI Arrests; Unaccompanied Child; Kids Camp at Playground; Dispute Over Dog; Assaults

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Assault 

• A man was arrested in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street just before 1:20 p.m. on May 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault. 

• A case of fourth-degree assault reported in the 100 block of Southeast Ninth Street at 11:30 a.m. on May 29 is under investigation. 

• A case of assault reported in the 900 block of South Market Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m. on May 29 is under investigation. 

 

Theft 

• A case of third-degree theft was reported in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 3:20 p.m. on May 25. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting “a shot of Fireball whiskey, wine and a bottle of … rubbing alcohol” in the 600 block of West Main Street just after 3:25 p.m. on May 25. 

• A case of third-degree theft was reported in the 400 block of Southwest Parkland Drive just before 4:55 p.m. on May 25. 

• A case of shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 8:20 p.m. on May 26. The business recovered the merchandise. 

• Shoes were reported stolen from a porch in the 500 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue just before 12:25 a.m. on May 27. 

• A group of juveniles reportedly shoplifted from a store in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just before 8:05 p.m. on May 28. 

• A utility trailer was reported stolen from the 500 block of Northeast Jefferson Avenue just before 8:45 p.m. on May 28. 

• Money was reported stolen out of a wallet in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 4:05 p.m. on May 29. 

• A subject was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 3:50 p.m. on May 30. 

 

Juvenile Problems 

• A juvenile reportedly threatened his parents and dogs, put a hole in the wall and ran away from the 300 block of Southeast Park Hill Drive just before 8:05 p.m. on May 25. 

• Two juveniles were reportedly crawling under a house in the 500 block of Southwest Pacific Avenue at approximately 10 a.m. on May 26. 

• A juvenile who was on furlough from the juvenile detention center to attend school in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reportedly left the school just after 8:45 a.m. on May 30 and was subsequently remanded into custody. 

• A drunk 13-year-old was reported in the 300 block of Southwest Eighth Street just after 7:45 p.m. on May 30. 

 

Disputes 

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 10 block of Southwest Cascade Avenue at 9:05 p.m. on May 25. 

• A physical and verbal dispute was reported in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard just before midnight on May 26. No arrests were made. 

• A domestic dispute regarding a dog was reported in the 500 block of Southwest William Avenue just after 12:50 a.m. on May 27. The reporting party claimed he was “letting someone watch his dog and now she won’t return it,” later clarifying the dog belonged to the two parties when they were a couple but she took the dog after they separated, and a domestic violence protection order was in place. The reporting party asked law enforcement to “kick down the door to (her) residence and see if she is there with his dog” and said he “wants her arrested for theft.” When the officer told him they “could not do that,” the reporting party “became very angry with me, stating I was not doing my job,” according to the officer’s report. The reporting party said he would “go there to demand the dog back himself” then said “he will be going through the courts to have the dog seized.” 

• Multiple subjects were reportedly “fighting in the parking lot” in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 6:10 p.m. on May 27. No arrests were made. 

• A physical domestic dispute was reported in the 10 block of Southwest 11th Street just after 3:10 p.m. on May 29. No arrests were made. 

 

Vehicle Accident 

• A subject was issued a criminal citation following a non-injury, two-vehicle collision at the intersection of West Main Street and Northwest State Avenue just before 2:40 p.m. on May 26. 

 

Hit-and-Run 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue just after 1:30 a.m. on May 27. 

• A hit-and-run was reported in the 10 block of Northeast Cascade Avenue just after 6:25 a.m. on May 27. 

• A subject was cited for a hit-and-run at the intersection of Southwest 16th Street and Southwest Snively Avenue just after 8:55 p.m. on May 27. 

 

Criminal Trespass 

• A case of trespassing was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 10 p.m. on May 26. 

• A motorhome and its occupant were trespassed from a parking lot in the 1800 block of South Market Boulevard at approximately 10:10 a.m. on May 27. 

• Three kids were reportedly found camping in a tunnel at a playground in the 200 block of Southwest 13th Street just after 6:10 a.m. on May 29. The kids were sent home. 

• A pair of dumpster divers was reported in the 700 block of South Market Boulevard just before 11:05 p.m. on May 29. The two “agreed to stop, clear up their mess and leave the area.” 

• A disorderly subject was reportedly trespassing at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 7:55 p.m. on May 30. 

• A business in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue asked law enforcement to trespass a subject who was “acting crazy” just after 1:40 a.m. on May 31. 

 

Malicious Mischief 



• Damage to cables in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue was reported just before 10:10 p.m. on May 27. 

• Damage to a fire hydrant was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 4:55 p.m. on May 28. The reporting party said “it appears it might have been hit by a vehicle.” 

• Damage to a cable in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue was reported just after 9:20 p.m. on May 28. 

 

Unattended Child 

• A young child was reportedly found unaccompanied in a driveway in the 900 block of Southeast Adams Avenue at 2:50 a.m. on May 28. A dog was also reported loose in the area.  

 

Suspicious Circumstances 

• A male subject who had “a drink in his hand” was reportedly “walking around the neighborhood trying handles of vehicles” at the intersection of Northwest Folsom Street and Northwest Pennsylvania Avenue just after 7:50 p.m. on May 28. 

• Just after 4:35 p.m. on May 29, a caller reported a “strong dead animal smell” coming from a vacant house in the 10 block of Southwest Ninth Street. 

 

Drug Violation 

• A subject was cited for a marijuana violation in the 1800 block of Southwest Fair Avenue just after 8:30 p.m. on May 28. 

 

Harassment 

• A case of harassment reported in the 700 block of Northwest Liberty Place at approximately 8:45 a.m. on May 29 is under investigation. 

• A case of harassment was reported at the intersection of Southeast Fourth Street and South Market Boulevard just before 6:25 p.m. on May 30. 

 

Reckless Endangerment 

• A subject was arrested in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 11:05 a.m. on May 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for reckless endangerment. 

 

Dog In Car 

• A caller reported dogs were in a vehicle in the 100 block of Northeast Hampe Way at 4:30 p.m. on May 30. Officers confirmed all four windows on the vehicle were open and the dogs did not show signs of overheating. 

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT 

Theft 

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue just after 2:15 p.m. on May 29 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for shoplifting. 

• A vehicle was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Scammon Creek Road at approximately 2:55 p.m. on May 30. The suspect had reportedly agreed to buy the vehicle then moved to California without paying. 

• A stolen check was reported in the 800 block of South Gold Street just after 5:25 p.m. on May 30. A citizen told law enforcement a friend had asked them to exchange cash for a check and “in good faith, the citizen cashed the check and provided the suspect with cash.” The citizen later discovered the check belonged to an uninvolved victim and the check had bounced. 

 

Malicious Mischief 

• Damage to two storefront windows in the 1000 block of Kresky Avenue was reported just after 7:35 p.m. on May 29. 

 

DUI 

• Fredrick J. Lee, 47, of Rochester, was arrested at the intersection of South Silver Street and Centralia College Boulevard just after 1:35 a.m. on May 30 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

• Mark R. Larmon, 67, of Lakewood, was arrested in the 100 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 2:05 a.m. on May 31 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after officers stopped him for traveling the wrong direction on a one-way street.

 

Department Assist 

• Just before 12:40 a.m. on May 31, officers responded to assist Riverside Fire Authority with a dumpster fire in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue. The cause of the fire was under investigation as of Wednesday afternoon. 

 

Wellness Check 

• A caller requested a wellness check on a homeless man lying on the ground in the 1100 block of Caveness Avenue just after 6 a.m. on May 31. The man, who is from Chehalis, “was only sleeping,” according to officers. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 165 inmates, including 150 in the general population and 15 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 118 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 12 were reported male and three were reported female.
