With tax season quickly approaching, area residents are sure to take notice of a new monolith in the local accounting scene.
Beginning Jan. 1, Brad Olsen’s Lewis County Tax, Otto Rabe’s Financial Accounting and Consulting Services and Wendy S. Mecham’s CPA services conglomerated in order to create Mountain View CPAs.
“It had kind of been in the works for the last year. We worked together out of the office last year as we were working to get this all together and we just finalized things in time for tax season,” explained Mecham. “Our sign out front does still say Lewis County Tax but we’re working on it. For the time being we’re telling people that they might see both names for awhile.”
The completed work included loads of construction in order to create new offices and an expanded lobby for customers.
“I think definitely we have a much larger staff now. We have a great ability to serve people,” said Mecham, who listed improved corporate purchasing power for accounting software as a perk to the merger.
“We’ve got more expertise by combining, and one of the big things we can now offer is audit and attest services.”
As part of their expanded services, Mountain View CPAs are offering tax refund anticipation loans of up to $2,500.
A press release noted that those funds can be used to pay filing fees in order to avoid any out of pocket tax preparation costs. Another tax season service they will offer is Saturday availability. Typically, Mountain View CPAs are open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., but from Feb. 3 through April 15, the business will also open up on Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The press release added that, “Mt. View CPAs will continue to offer past services, and will add an updated website with more online resources, a link to a secure portal where clients can access financial information and tax returns, and Twitter and Facebook accounts.”
Additionally, Lewis County Tax will continue to operate its Morton office, which opened last year, under the Mountain View CPAs umbrella in order to more readily serve East Lewis County residents.
The press release also noted that “Mt. View CPAs serves everyone from individual clients with limited income to business clients with multimillion dollar incomes. On staff are three licensed CPAs, three enrolled agents, three certified bookkeepers, two interns and support staff. Services provided include tax, accounting, payroll, management consulting and attest.”
