Diaper Derby, Talent Show and More: Fan-Favorite Events Return to SWW Fair

Some popular, fan-favorite events like the diaper derby, the demolition derby and a rodeo, are set to return to the Southwest Washington Fair this year.

This year’s fair, which spans from Aug. 16 to Aug. 21, will feature daily contests for kids at 5 p.m. on the Midway Stage. Contests include ones for the reddest hair, most freckles, best smile and kid who looks the most like mom or dad.

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, opening ceremonies will take place on the Community Stage, formerly known as Stage South, at 11 a.m. That will be followed by the new Little Miss Friendly ceremony at 6:30 p.m. on the Saloon Stage and the demolition derby at 7 p.m. at the grandstand.

On Wednesday, Aug. 17, the senior day contests will be held at the Community Stage at noon.



Then on Thursday, Aug. 18, the KELA/KMNT Diaper Derby will take place at noon on the Community Stage, followed by the 4-H Consumer Revue at 7 p.m. on the Community Stage.

On Friday, Aug. 19, there will be a pie eating contest at 4:30 p.m. on the Midway Stage, and the Junior Livestock Market Sale Action is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the new Judging Pavilion.

A new contest dedicated to mullets will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Midway Stage. The contest will be open to kids, teens and adults. That will be followed by a watermelon eating contest at 4 p.m. on the Midway Stage and then the Lewis County Rodeo will take place at 6 p.m. at the grandstand.

On Sunday, Aug. 21, Twin Star Credit Union will host its “Stars of Tomorrow” talent show at noon on the Community Stage. The demolition derby is set to take place at noon at the grandstand and the KACS Family Day concerts will start at 3 p.m.
