Wednesday's Prep Volleyball: Winlock Edges Pe Ell in Five Sets

WINLOCK — It was a back and forth match between Winlock and Pe Ell here on Wednesday, with the Cardinals prevailing 3-2 in a non-league volleyball match.

Pe Ell won the first set 25-20, but Winlock evened the match with a 26-24 second set win. The Trojans again took a lead once again with a 25-12 third set win. The Cardinals answered once again with a 25-12 fourth set win. Winlock locked up the victory with a 15-11 fifth set win.

Winlock coach Chastity Pennington highlighted the serving of Kaitlynn Mitchell and the blocks and defense of Karlie Jones. She also complimented the back row play of Addison Hall and the libero work of Maia Chaney and Raychel Squibb.



“This team is doing amazing considering they had no team last year. They are accomplishing a lot,” Pennington said.

Winlock (3-4) hosts Napavine on Thursday in the Central 2B League opener while Pe Ell (1-3) travels to Raymond on Saturday for the Raymond tournament.
